How to Add Product Images

For Megabytes WebWare eCommerce - 01/14/2008 by Evan Youngblood.

Image Requirements

The Megabytes WebWare eCommerce system uses a simple naming scheme to upload product images. Product images must be in JPEG format and end with the extension .jpg or .JPG. Any other file extension will result in the image being ignored by the server.

The image file must be the product number of the product. For example, if the product number is CM1234, the image must be named CM1234.jpg or CM1234.JPG for it to show on the web site.

Uploading Images

You may upload as many images at one time as you like, using FTP. Any FTP client will work, however Megabytes recommends using Filezilla. All screen-shots included in this documentation are of Filezilla.

Launch Filezilla and connect to your web server using your username and password supplied by Megabytes.

Enter your domain name in the Host box, then your username and password and click QuickConnect.

Connect to the Server

When connected, a list of files will display in the right column of Filezilla as shown by the blue box.

FTP Client Filezilla

In the Remote Site box (circled in red above), enter /var/www/html/images/products and press <ENTER>. This will move you to the correct directory for uploading. On the left column, navigate your local computer to where the files are located that you wish to upload (circled in red below). On the right column, Filezilla displays the files on your web server (circled in blue).

Local and Remote files in Filezilla

To upload your files, drag one or more files from the left column to the right column.
